Hi, I’m Ally!

Ally Chozik is a passionately Queer director, dramaturge, and performer born and raised in Toronto. Since graduating from Sheridan College in 2023, Ally has set her focus on the development and deepening of new musical theatre works. After associate directing and line producing a sold-out workshop production of The Calling by Jessa Richer and Shira Bodnar in August 2023, Ally founded Makeshift Company; a company dedicated to developing and producing new Canadian musicals. In October 2023, as dramaturge, they dove into the collaborative development of When You Close Your Eyes, a horror musical by Jessa Richer. By June 2024, Ally led a team/cast of 15 majority Queer and femme artists in a triumphant sold-out run and extension of this horrifying new sapphic musical.

In Makeshift Company’s second year, Ally began working with Annika Tupper on All That She Wrote, for The Spark Project. The piece was quickly awarded 1st Runner-Up for The Adams Prize for Musical Theatre, and was granted a spot as part of the Alliance for Canadian Musicals in the 2025 Toronto Fringe. All That She Wrote is continuing development, spearheaded by Ally, and has completed two workshops since it began development with Makeshift. 

Jessa Richer and Shira Bodnar’s The Calling, was produced again in February 2025, directed by Ally Chozik. The piece included a 5-piece band and a 9-person cast .

Ally is a notably fierce artistic leader, especially in musical theatre, and has a remarkable ability to see a production through, diligently creating exciting collaborative opportunities for herself and other emerging artists along the way. Ally strives to create work in musical theatre that invites audiences to love each other more after leaving the theatre.
